Creamy Hummus

This easy– and we mean easy– recipe makes for a delicious and nutritious snack loaded with good fat, protein, and fiber. It’s also the perfect starter recipe for getting our kids involved in the kitchen!

  • 1 15-ounce can or jar of chickpeas
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 3 cloves garlic
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin


Kid Tip:
Let your kid dump in all of the ingredients and press the button to turn on the food processor. It’s the perfect recipe for beginner chefs!
For babies under 12 months who are eating solids, omit the salt. 


  • Depending on your desired consistency, use the liquid from the can or jar for a thinner texture or drain some or all of the liquid for a thicker texture.
  • Place the chickpeas (with or without its liquid) in a food processor and add in the the olive oil, lemon juice, tahini, garlic, salt, and cumin.
  • Pulse the mixture until it is fairly smooth. If it's too dry– add a couple tablespoons of extra olive oil or liquid from the canned chickpeas.
  • Taste and adjust salt, cumin, lemon, or garlic to your liking.
  • Serve with toast, pita, or vegetables. Enjoy!
