They are comfortable, easy and can be dressed up or down. This versatile staple will easily becoming a go-to during your pregnancy (and after). Below are a few of my favorite options. Commando has some that you can wear at the start of your pregnancy through having to move to styles that are made specifically for your bump. They also make a pair that has with a bit of a flare leg that is both comfy and adds a little extra pop of style. Blanqi has a style with more bump support without big seams or pockets, which gives a nice clean palette for either vibe you want that day! Just add a little pump or block heeled sandal to dress them up with just about any type of top.
A classic option: These Commando Leggings
A Favorite Flare: The Butter Flare
For Bump Support: Top Pick
Denim can sometimes be the most daunting to find when pregnant. And many don’t want to part with the jeans they live in daily. So, here are some great bump-friendly denim options to check out and some tricks/ items to have you in your own for longer.
One of the biggest complaints I hear about maternity jeans is the need to have to wear longer tops due to the elastic on the sides or the extra fabric for belly support showing when you aren’t quite your normal size, but don’t really need the full support just yet. In the past, one of the tricks was using rubber bands or ponytail holders, but now there are easy to use products on the market that will keep you in your own jeans or non-maternity denim for longer. These come in a couple of color options and can help during those first few months and postpartum. Another go-to during those first few months is a button extender.
Once you get take the leap into maternity jeans try a pair that hides the elastic support. Here’s my favorite and these are another top pick.
If you’re looking for bump support check out this brand. All of their options are very well thought out. The built-in belly panel is placed in a way where you still have a traditional waist band, so can wear different length tops.
It’s a full look in one garment and it’s ultra-comfortable. You’ll want to look for fitted stretch options or easy throw-and-go dresses. The key is to know the ones that you can easy wear and pair with sneaker or heels.
For the fitted options I love Bumpsuit’s selection. They have so many styles that can grow with you and are incredibly comfortable. They come in all the basic colors and you can pair them with denim jackets, blazers or Oxford button up shirts over them to give different looks or to cover your arms. They also make this amazing full jumpsuit that is just so easy to style for everyday.
Wanting a more fashionable or color option? Then the “easy” dress if for you. Smock, Babydoll and empire waist options are great for this. They come in all colors and patterns and you can really have fun with them. Most designers, especially in the spring and summer, carry these style and they don’t have to be “Maternity” to be bump-friendly, which opens the door to many more options and you can also style these post-pregnancy.
Zimmerman always has several beautiful options every collection. For every day looks, Zara has great and affordable options.
A few other essentials for your bump are tees and tanks that are easily layered under jackets, cardigans, sweaters and so on. Comfort is alway key during this time and the flux of temperatures is a real thing. Having layers helps so much through out the day to be able to add or remove for your comfort level.
I love Hatch’s tanks. They look like your traditional tank top but have added length
Also, Amazon has several amazing options. No need to spend fortune for these items.
The duster will be your new best friend. It serves so many purposes; it’s comforting, it adds style to your look, its great for covering any areas you may want to cover during this time, and its great for nursing postpartum as well. You can find them in different colors, fabrics and lengths to give different vibes. It’s also great option to layer over leggings, fitted dresses and jeans. Pair with sneakers or add a heel for date night.
Insider tip: Revolve has an entire duster section, so its easy to click on and then filter options by size, color or pricing to look at items in one place. They also are great about quick shipping, easy returns and variety of price points.
